There have been questions on whether to raise the salary cap in the next year. I will argue that we should not. My reason is that we will all have a number of good minor leaguers that were entry draft players. These guys will have a salary of $500,000 for 6 years. The top several will begin to take to the places of other players. If we inflate the cap, it will might be an unreal situation that would not mimck the NHL.
only my opinion. Rich

I would agree...lets wait 3-4 years at least and see where we are, It will make things to easy in the short term if we increase it to much. I'm already looking at having a number of my ELC guys take over for guys on contract for 2-4 mil which frees up that money. The 85 cap wont be a problem for most teams unless they are not thinking and planing ahead...in which case....

I also agree. We all drafted knowing what the cap and salary numbers were. I have no problem with the cap going up a bit at some point but i would also be of the opinion that it should stay where it is for a couple seasons. I am not in favor of raising the cap to make it easier for teams that are close to the cap to keep players. Making hard decisions with regard to players and cap space is a result of choosing to sign the contracts in the first place.

I agree in keeping the salary cap as it is now (85 mil) for at least 3-4 years.
Cheers,

I agree about keeping it challenging and not making the cap too high. We don't need to decide anything until next off-season. This is something the whole league will decide, not just me. Maybe what we've got now will work fine and we won't need to change.
